The list below is some of the frequently asked questions about Affordable Home Agency.  If you have any other questions that are not answered here, please feel free to contact us at (800) 815-5657.

  1. How do you select your caregivers?

We select caregivers based on their experience, qualifications, dependability and personality traits.  We look for caregivers that are trustworthy, helpful, friendly and caring.

  2. What is your screening process for caregivers?

There are a number of steps we take to screen our caregivers.  We require them to interview in person (about a one-hour process), verify their work references, run criminal background checks, and have an outside agency run a social security verification.

  3. What if I am not happy with the caregiver provided to me or my loved one?

We are happy to provide you with another caregiver as many times as you need until you are completely satisfied.

  4. Can you help if I only need someone for a few hours?

Yes, we have no minimum hourly requirements, so you use the amount of service you need.  We will provide a caregiver for as little as 1-hour per week or as much as 24-hours per day.   We also provide live-in caregivers.

  5. How much does your service cost?

    Call for details.

  6. What training do caregivers have?

Remember, our caregivers are not providing skilled nursing services and provide only non-medical services. Our caregivers have a variety of other skills and training.  Some may be trained on how to care for clients with dementia while others are proficient at helping stroke patients with transferring.  Since we have such a large staff, we are usually very successful at finding someone who meets your unique needs.

  7. What services care your caregivers provide?

Our services are outlined in detail on the services page.  Click here to get to the Services page.

  8. How far do your caregivers travel?

We usually will try to find a caregiver that lives as close as possible to you to increase the likelihood of it being a good match.

  9. Does Medicare cover this service?

Unfortunately not.   Medicare only covers skilled nursing services in the home.  Even those services are only covered to a limited extent.

  10.   Will my Long Term Care policy cover this service?

It depends on the specifics of your individual policy.  Not all policies are written the same so it is important to find out whether the service will be covered prior to placing your order.  We are happy to help you with this process.

  11. If I need to cancel services, how much notice do you require?

We only require a 24-hour notice to cancel services.

  12. How can I reach you if I have more questions?

You can call one of our offices if you have more questions. In Contra Costa County call (925) 933-3732, in Alameda call (510) 559-3900, in Solano call (707) 642-3380 or toll free at (800) 815-5657.
